伊利和蒙牛是中國的兩大乳品企業(yè)，總部都在內蒙古，伊利在上海主板上市，蒙牛在香港上市。

荷蘭合作銀行發(fā)布“2022年全球乳業(yè)20強”榜單中，伊利集團以183億的銷售額穩(wěn)居全球乳業(yè)五強，連續(xù)十年蟬聯亞洲乳業(yè)第一，再次成為唯一進入全球五強的中國乳企。蒙牛以144億美元的銷售額，屈居第八名，比2021年下降了1個名次（2021年蒙牛銷售額137億美元，排名第7名。）

Yili and Mengniu is China's two largest dairy companies, both headquartered in Inner Mongolia, with Yili listed on the main board of Shanghai and Mengniu listed in Hong Kong. 在2016-2022年度“全球乳業(yè)20強”的6年期間，總共出現的乳品企業(yè)有23家，其中最多的是法國5家；其次是美國4家、中國、加拿大、德國、荷蘭都是2家；瑞士、新西蘭、丹麥、日本、愛爾蘭都是1家。但是，逐漸消失在人們視野的是美國的卡夫（Kraft Heinz）、迪安食品（Dean Foods），其消失的原因和對現在乳業(yè)的警示，在以后的奶酪的故事中，會做專門的分析。
